About a year ago I decided to try my hand at making sourdough bread. It’s been all the rage on social media for the last couple years and because I do love baking and really wanted a healthier bread option for my family it seemed perfect.
I did end up successfully making sourdough bread but let me tell you – I WAS SO STRESSED and ended up hating it. I couldn’t keep up with the rigorous schedule of sourdough and soon felt defeated because I was so overwhelmed. I also felt the added pressure from my Instagram page because so many people had started making it with me and I wanted it to be a part of my life.
I am thrilled for the people who have had success making sourdough and maybe one day when life isn’t in such a busy season, I would love to try my hand at it again.
About a month ago, I was scrolling Pinterest when I saw a recipe for an artisan loaf made with yeast. It suddenly dawned on me, I can still use simple and healthier ingredients to make bread for my family (which was the whole point of making bread to begin with). I started baking and haven’t been able to stop yet! I’ve been experimenting with artisan recipes, sandwich bread recipes, and gluten free bread recipes as well!
So far I have 3 recipes that have worked great for me!
The first one is a rusty artisan loaf by Life As a Strawberry Artisan Loaf recipe. This recipe is simple, quick, and so far has not let me down. I’ll add a copy of her recipe here! I love that it has simple ingredients, has a super quick prep and bake time, and is DELISH! So far, this is my favorite recipe since started to make yeast bread. Every time I have made one of these, it’s gone within 2 days!
So far this sandwich bread recipe has been my absolute favorite and turns out great each time! It’s the simple sandwich bread recipe from Chicken Scratch Diaries. This recipe turned out amazing and we used every piece for sandwiches after I made it. It’s soft, delicious, and has a perfect color and crust.
GLUTEN FREE recipes
My next recipe is a gluten free sandwich bread by Wonders of Cooking. I am still in the testing phase to find my absolute favorite gluten free bread. So far this one is tasty but I do feel like I need to slightly tweak things in order to get a better crust. If you have any favorite GF artisan loaf favorites, feel free to comment below and I can add them to my list to test out!
I hope this is helpful and I can’t wait to hear how many of you find success with yeast bread!
Can’t wait to try the artisan yeast bread. Question…how do I keep the loaf fresh for the next day? Its only my husband and I and we can’t finish an entire loaf in one day.
