Loft mood board

Uncategorized

If you haven’t seen my IG stories lately, my parents and brother are moving here to South Carolina in a few weeks! My brother Paul is autistic and as my parents have gotten older, they are needing more hands on help with his care. We are currently retrofitting our home to temporarily house all 8 of us which means the boys are moving out of their current rooms and into one of my favorite rooms in our home, the loft! This will likely be a temporary move until my parents get settled into their new place and will likely be Paul’s space one day but for now we are going to turn this gorgeous unused space into a bedroom for all THREE boys – buckle up!

So this space has a beautiful pitched roof which adds so much charm into the overall aesthetic of this room. A few months ago when we painted this room I chose an earthy green color to provide a warm accent wall and we actually ended up painting the pine floors to update it! I am so thrilled to be partnering with the Home Depot to put together a mood board using their incredibly versatile home line to make this space extra cozy for the boys.

I’m partnering with The Home Depot because if you haven’t seen the amount and volume of home decor they are offering you are missing out! The Home Depot is a one stop destination for all home products.

First I wanted to start with the beds and goodness, these are just going to be perfect for this space. I don’t know about you but I love a good classic metal bed frame. These Dorley Farmhouse Black Metal Twin add just cottage farmhouse for my taste and adds such a sweet amount of charm into this mood board.

When creating a mood board, I like to start with the foundations – wall colors, furniture, and also area rugs. Choosing an area rug next really sets the mood for the room and the direction it will go. For this space, I chose this beautiful (and very affordable) Hathor Navy 7 ft. 10 in. x 10 ft. Area Rug. I think this rug is neutral enough to work with the overall look I’m going for but also add color and variety to the room. I love how the shades in this rug will play off of the green accent wall as well.

For bedding, I went with the classic white bedding they already have and added these Oversized Faux Cashmere Stone Plaid Acrylic Fireside Throw Blankets for the end of each of their beds. This will add a cozy textured feel that is perfect for the chilly months coming up!

We are used to running to The Home Depot for lumber and DIY projects so you might be as blown away with the selection of home decor items they offer!
